Good Samaritan saves teenage boy’s life with Heimlich maneuver after he choked on a chicken sandwich at Wisconsin restaurant

  • Joseph Reinhart, a cook at a Wisconsin restaurant, saved a teenage server from choking in August
  • In a newly released video, Reinhart can be seen performing the Heimlich on an unidentified teen server who was choking on a chicken sandwich
  • After about 25 seconds, Reinhart managed to dislodge the sandwich from the boy’s throat, who later collapsed in distress and appeared to cry
  • The teen is reportedly fine and eating chicken sandwiches again

He then slapped the boy’s back a few times to make sure it was all out, but the boy later shook his head, gesturing that some of the sandwich was still blocking his airways. Roughly 20 seconds later, Reinhart managed to get the rest of it dislodged.

GW: Very reassuring for all of us that there are still ”good guys” around who know how to take care of trouble when they see it.  Same thing happened to me and sure enough someone performed the Heimlich maneuver.  The whole restaurant fell silent.  Quite extraordinary.
