The Age of Innocence – DHG

“Not meaning to be lazy here – but has anyone got a para summary of DHG – alive in Aegina/links to Tricker/schneider/companies- flying squad/elm raids – whatever?

Just a short summary – which I could link to the info here also? I’m not as o fay (fey/pun) with all the connections – bit out of the loop – but there’s a contact I know who might be able to network on the Greek side of things. If I can send them a summary – maybe they can help with follow up.

I’d prefer to network with those I know. Smile of the child and Terre des Hommes 😮 and Eurochild are all in the ‘frame’ in Greece- but I wouldn’t have confidence in their ”charitable” work given all that we uncovered on the JS thread.

So, where “is” the pint-sized pornographer?

David Grant

By gojam,
February 13, 2013.

The name that appears at the centre of
the ‘family tree’ has been transcribed as
‘Hamilton-Grant’. I believe I’m now in a
position to confirm that this is very likely
to be David Hamilton Grant, a porn producer…

David Hamilton Grant was born in 1937.
As a pornographer he revelled in the titles
‘King of Porn’, or the ‘King of Sexploitation.
In 1984 he was convicted and imprisoned
for ”possession of over 200 copies of an
obscene article for publication for gain”
this was in connection with the film
‘Nightmares in a Damaged Brain’ a violent
‘video nastie’ which featured children in
sex scenes.

Upon being released from prison,
David Hamilton Grant fled to Cyprus
and lived there until he was deported in 1988.
An article in The Sun around that time described
Grant as a “drug dealer” who had “corrupted thousands of children”, during his time in Cyprus. It would seem from Mr Grant’s central position in the schematic below that it was
not just the children of Cyprus that he corrupted.

The ‘family tree’ document appears to show the commercial chain involved in the trafficking and sexual exploitation of children from Richmond care homes. Above David Hamilton Grant we can see the ‘Care Home’ part of the chain. To the right we can
see the name ‘Puddles’, an underworld figure who is often referred to as ‘Patrick’ in other documents, the Irish name a possible indication of this persons identity. ‘Mr Puddles’ involvement might help to explain the apparent high levels of police corruption.

Below David Hamilton Grant we can see Peter Glencross, the ‘business manager’ of Spartacus magazine which masqueraded as a travel guide for homosexuals but was
in reality a front for paedophiles.

And finally, we can see the extent of the distribution network for the child pornography. Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Germany, and on to Turkey.

The Reincarnated David Grant

David Grant

Birth Name: David Hamilton Grant

Nickname: The Gnome

Mini Biography:

A notorious character, David Hamilton-Grant was Britain’s self-proclaimed ‘King of Sexploitation’ who from the late 1960s to the late 1970s, distributedand produced all manner of pornography  from London’s West End. Unlike most of his contemporaries Grant reveled in his second hand car salesman as pornographer image and was not well liked. Grant began his career in photography, his self-published photo-book ‘Love Variations’ was an early sex education manual. Using the name ‘Terry Gould’, Grant directed a film version of Love Variations (1971) in 1969. Viewed today the film is more than a little tedious, as a couple dispassionately demonstrate sexual positions and a phony ‘family doctor’ yaks on and on, but on account of the film’s taboo breaking use of full-frontal nudity (male and female) the film was a success and allowed Grant to continue his career.

With the help of sexploitation jack of all trades,
Ray Selfe, Grant formed ‘Oppidan’ pictures which
distributed home grown soft-core like
“Confessions of a Sex Maniac” (The Man Who Couldn’t
Get Enough (1974)) and heavily cut foreign items like
Pussy Talk (1975). For his own productions Grant assembled an eclectic workforce, which included ‘Village of the Damned’ director Wolf Rilla, ‘Roobarb and Custard’ animator Bob Godfrey and 60s TV satire director, Joseph McGrath. Grant’s productions like Snow White and the Seven Perverts (1973), Girls Come First (1975) and The Office Party (1976), are distinguished by threadbare production values, plots Xeroxed from other British sex comedies, scant
running times and Grant’s lewd sensibilities. Grant became absorbed by sexploitation, and personally shot hardcore scenes for most of his film’s overseas release.

dhg ZZZ

dhg

By the mid-seventies a loophole in the law meant
hardcore films could be shown in ‘Membership Only’
sex cinemas in London. Seizing the opportunity Grant and (reluctantly) Selfe became co-owners of several such cinemas, seven straight one gay and all playing
wall-to-wall hardcore. According to Selfe, most of the films that played these cinemas came from America and were shot by either moonlighting television people or randy
film students. Mostly they were credit-less and titles had to be made up. ‘I was a Teenage Bride’ (Selfe’s title) which packed them in for five months was actually a title Selfe and Grant used for three different films all playing under the same title. The audience didn’t complain.

Both Oppidan productions and the sex cinemas brought in vast amounts of money, most of which Grant spent on his love of gambling, but on both the casino floors and in the
film world he hardly had the Midas touch. Attempts at mainstream filmmaking – Grant produced The Great McGonagall (1974) with Peter Sellers and Spike Milligan – proved financially disastrous. Grant’s career became riddled with bad moves, he
hired future Oscar winner Jonathan Demme to direct Secrets of a Door-to-Door Salesman (1973) but then abruptly fired him, and in 1979 plans to import Deep Throat (1972) director
Gerard Damiano for a sex drama called “Love is Beautiful” – came to nothing.

When the age of cinema sexploitation passed Grant shed Selfe and went it alone forming ‘Video World of 2000′, a video distributor of exploitation titles including several of Grant’s old productions. But it was Video World of 2000’s release of “Nightmares in a Damaged Brain” (Nightmare (1981)) an ultra-violent US horror film in which a psychotic has a drooling fit in a sex shop – that caused all the controversy. Grant came up with an
outrageous competition to publicise the release in which people had to guess the weight of a real ‘damaged brain’ – where Grant managed to procure such an item remains best unanswered. Such a tasteless stunt, along with the release of this extremely graphic film couldn’t have been more badly timed, for this was in 1984 the year of Britain’s
‘Video Nasty’ hysteria. Grant and several of his associates were arrested on obscenity charges, and Grant was eventually sent to prison for 18 months.

After his release Grant’s life in 1980s Britain became a chaotic blur of legal charges and police hassles including arrests for drink driving, video copyright offences and assault. Grant eventually disappeared later resurfacing as a delicatessen owner in Cyprus, only to be then deported to Turkey. In his absence Grant was a fixture of sensationalist UK newspaper articles, each claiming he was involved in more nefarious activities than the last. What the ‘King of Sexploitation’ made of this slice of exploitation more closer to home
remains unanswered, Grant fell silent in 1991.

The Movie Man

David Grant (1937) sometimes billed as David Hamilton Grant
was an English porn producer during the late 1960s and 1970s.

Biography

Originally a photographer, Grant first entered the film world with Love Variations (1969) a sex education film that was based on a ‘marriage manual’ Grant had photographed/published a year earlier. Grant’s sex film empire grew in the 1970s, he opened up a number of adult cinemas, distributed foreign sex films through his “Oppidan” company, and produced his own British sex comedies (Girls Come First, The Office Party,
Under the Bed) that were also filmed in hardcore versions for overseas release. Grant liked to refer to himself as the ‘King of Porn’, or the ‘King of Sexploitation’, people
who worked with him however would come to nickname the bearded, diminutive Grant ‘The Poison Dwarf’ or ‘The Gnome’. Grant enjoyed giving himself Hitchcock
cameos in his own films, as well as personally supervising the hardcore scenes for his films. During the making of The Office Party, Grant got into a furious row with actor
Johnny Briggs, after Briggs refused to bare all for the film.  Briggs feared such exposure could damage his reputation, and a furious Grant threatened to fire him. After the intervention of Briggs’ agent, a compromise was reached and Briggs performed
the offending scene with his underpants on. Briggs later recalled this story in his autobiography, noting that after the film he vowed never to work with Grant again. As well as his sex films Grant also produced X-rated cartoons like Sinderella (1972) which ends
with the ugly sisters being gang raped by the three bears, and comedy shorts like Escape to Entebbe (1976) a parody of Idi Amin featuring a browned up John Bluthal as a Pakistani TV
reporter. In 1978 it was announced Grant’s company would produce Love is Beautiful, a British sex film that was to have been directed by Gerard Damiano and was to star Harry Reems and Annette Poussin. The film was never made.

In the early eighties Grant turned to video, forming the World of Video 2000 label with fellow 1970s sex film mogul Malcolm Fancey. Grant held the position of company secretary, while Fancey was head of marketing. The company launched onto the video market with several soft porn titles in December 1981. In 1983 Grant noted that Steven Spielberg’s film ET had yet to be released on home video in the UK, and responded by
releasing an old sixties ‘B’ movie called Night Fright (1968) on video under the title E.T.N – The Extra Terrestrial Nastie, with video artwork that parodied the E.T poster.
Universal International Pictures threatened legal action, and the tape was withdrawn then later re-released with different artwork. On the 3rd of February 1984 Grant was
imprisoned for distributing ‘video nasty’ Nightmares in a Damaged Brain (1981) on video. Grant was sentenced to 18 months in prison (reduced 23 September 1984 to 12 months)
for being in “possession of over 200 copies of an obscene article for publication for gain”, he was found guilty under section two of the obscene publications act. Grant’s defense lawyer during the trial was Geoffrey Robertson. After Grant’s imprisonment,
World of Video 2000 (and its parent company April Electronics) were placed into liquidation.

One of Grant’s final works in film was ‘Who Bears Sins’, a 1987 video compilation that included clips from his 1970s sex films, mixed in with newer shot on videotape
porn vignettes, probably also filmed by Grant. A resident of Cyprus for most of the 1980s, he left the island under a dark cloud in 1988 when he was deported after assaulting
a love rival with a spade. Around the same time The Sun newspaper alleged that Grant had been a drug dealer, and had also “corrupted thousands of children”, during his time
in Cyprus.

Malcolm Fancey

Malcolm Fancey was effectively born into the film business. His father was Edwin J. Fancey (1902-1980) one of the oldest and longest running of Britain’s exploitation film producer/distributors. Fancey senior distributed hundreds of films (mostly second features) through numerous companies including New Realm, D.U.K., S.F. and E.J. Fancey Ltd, produced Down among the Z-Men starring The Goons and gave
Michael Winner his earliest breaks in showbiz. Malcolm joined the family business in the late 1950s, and when E.J. retired in the seventies, took over the running of
the New Realm Company with his sister Adrienne Fancey. Malcolm and Adrienne made a great amount of money through New Realm over the years, especially by acquiring
the British rights to Just Jaeckin’s Emmanuelle (1974), as well as producing many home-grown softcore films.

Not long after E.J. Fancey’s death, Malcolm quit New Realm and became a ‘silent partner’ in April Electronics, a company run by fellow sex film mogul David Grant. Many of Fancey’s productions such as I’m Not Feeling Myself Tonight (1976), Girls Come First (1975) and
The World Is Full of Married Men (1979) were issued on tape by World of Video 2000, the video arm of April Electronics. For the release of a horror film called “Nightmares in a Damaged Brain” (Nightmare (1981)) on tape, David Grant dreamed up a publicity stunt
that would ultimately backfire. In May 1982 several World of Video 2000 employees were dispatched to a hospital in Surrey where they unveiled a brain in a jar. Sick patients were then asked to ‘guess the weight of the real damaged brain’ in exchange for a prize. Horrified
hospital staff promptly phoned the police who quickly confiscated Grant’s ‘Brain’ (actually nothing more than a horror movie prop). Not long after World of Video 2000’s offices were raided by the police, and Grant, Fancey and another man were sent to trial on obscenity charges relating to the release of “Nightmares in a Damaged Brain”. Most of the prosecution’s case rested on the fact that the version released on tape by World of Video 2000 was 60 seconds longer than the version passed by the British censor for cinema release. All three men were found guilty of distributing material ‘likely to deprave or corrupt’ in 1984. While Grant spent 18 months in jail, Fancey received a suspended sentence and had to pay a fine. Having ‘officially’ quit the film business in 1981, Fancey
then completely retired from showbiz and today lives quietly on the south coast of England.

Interesting article on Hamilton Grant, Tajas. Did you notice the mention of previous companies that went bust 1984/1986?

One was April Electronics Limited which was registered 14th Jan 1982 and has a trading address of 5 Albion Place, Leeds, LS1 6JL which is only about 3 miles from Saviles Roundhay address.

Another of his companies that went bust around the same time was a video tape exchange company called PALS Limited. Can’t help but wonder if that had links to Paedophiles Action for Liberation group. One can only imagine the video exchanges that were taking place

Pretty much all bitcoin companies are 1-5 people and all work from home. over time some will grow and be able to afford more office space.

I use my address for Bit-Pay which Nagle has previously announced, along with the number of bedrooms and bathrooms I have. Setting up a PO box or other office space is an unnecessary expense and just makes the company look like its got something to hide…

So Intersango is a ‘bitcoin’ company, the same address as Health E-Stores Limited.

Russell Howard-Tricker – E-Gold
David Hamilton Grant – Bitcoin

A Bitcoin company and David Hamilton-Grant’s company using the same PO Box mailing address may not mean anything since there could be lots of businesses using that address. But how many of those businesses are likely to be criminal?”
