No this is the result of years and years of society breaking down. These youths have been brought up within a culture of extremely violent gaming where total annihilation of life is the aim. Coupled with the fact that many of these youngsters also had to fend for themselves from an early age as their adult was either out of the home working hard for their family (or half cut through drink etc. so didn’t much care what their offspring was doing) and you have the recipe for future social breakdown.
This corruption of values happened in every great culture and signaled its demise – eg The Roman Era; The Egyptian Era.
We have allowed the waning of general morality to go too far and sadly Western Civilisation is now on the demise.
The police cannot deal with that adequately. Parents, Teachers, Police, Social/Youth/Mental Health Workers and Policy makers & funders need to work as a team to try to untangle the mess we have allowed to develop. Blaming specific sections of authority is meaningless. We all need to take responsibility for our collective failure and do something about it. Together.

Those blanked out photos of the kids… They looked about 10/12. No point whinging if the police looked twice at you because your kid was the same age – they needed to apprehend efficiently and you cant be thinking of sparing feelings while there are machetes around. Need to get these young kids away from gang culture, while they don’t know the full extent of their actions yet, they can cause death and misery to others and ultimately to themselves when they regret the paths taken.
