Production of the electric Mini is slated to begin in 2019 and BMW has to make a decision about where it will produce the new vehicles in the second half of this year

The UK assembles 1.7M cars per year.
UK consumers register 2.7M cars per year.
So clearly we import net 1M cars per year, plus god knows how many engines and other parts. The UK is a HEAVY importer of cars. We are the CUSTOMER in the international motor vehicle industry. The CUSTOMER is the guy with the money, the power, and it’s time we used it a la Trump. Foreign built cars should incur tariffs so they are more expensive than UK built cars. Car companies must be incentivized to build where they sell.
GW: Silly to sell off a good brand like Mini to foreign ownership in the first place.
