- Crash Call for the NHS: A Day to Revive the NHS is not an organisation, just a day of information and action by doctors. They are holding it in London, but are happy for independent groups of doctors round the country to follow suit. They will be having talks from various campaigners at their main event – our own Dr Louise Irvine and Dr Bob Gill among them – and will be talking and handing out information leaflets to members of the public whilst demonstrating CPR. The London one is Shepherd’s Bush Green at 12pm, Saturday 22nd August.
- 38 Degrees TTIP Day of Action campaigners will be out collecting signatures for the massive EU wide petition against TTIP. This is one of a series and across Europe the opposition toTTIP must keep building. You should be able to find a group near you that you can help and support with this campaign.This is a European Citizen’s Initiative and already has 2432392 signatures. Here is the text of the petition:“We call on the institutions of the European Union and its member states to stop the negotiations with the USA on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and not to ratify the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) with Canada.
We want to prevent TTIP and CETA because they include several critical issues such as investor-state dispute settlement and rules on regulatory cooperation that pose a threat to democracy and the rule of law. We want to prevent lowering of standards concerning employment, social, environmental, privacy and consumers and the deregulation of public services (such as water) and cultural assets from being deregulated in non-transparent negotiations. The ECI (European Citizen’s Initiative) supports an alternative trade and investment policy in the EU. “
It is NHA policy to fully oppose these deregulatory agreements.
