Parents have been sold ‘The Montessori Method’ at Discovery Free School. Trainee teachers covered ‘Montessori’ in lectures 30 years ago and it was found wanting then as it is primarily limited to pre-schoolers. This method was rejected outright by our Education Dept for its limitations. It is only in use in the Private Sector to a limited extent and should only be chosen by parents after a careful and thorough investigation of its principles. Maria Montessori was convinced that “the purpose of life is to obey the occult command which harmonizes all and creates an ever better world” (Education for a New World). ‘Ayn Rand also endorsed Montessori education!
