Waterfall, Edinburgh,
Amazing news. Just further evidence that doctors still don’t understand everything about life and death. They are given far too much power to make these decisions to remove people from life support. Sometimes all the body needs is more time to heal. Sometimes all we need is a little more patience and faith. Miracles do happen.

GW: The sister says ”You are amazing Lewis” & so he is for proving to everybody once again that doctors don’t know everything even if they think they do.  Tptwtb are also trying to switch off life support for Pippa King who is in a similar situation.  One wonders if the ”organ harvesters” are hovering just behind the curtain & dollar signs go up all over the place when [[[they]]] see a potential specimen such as this very fit young man.

Doctors wrote off Phoenix TV anchor Tanya Liu as being brain dead after the Potters Bar train crash in 2002
. They said her injuries were so severe she should be allowed to die. She was the most seriously injured survivor. After being flown to Beijing for treatment, she emerged from a coma after 2 months. Her recovery was slow and she remains affected in a few ways, both physically an mentally, but she lives a good life and eventually returned to work, public life, and has been an inspiration to so many others.

Just remember, the doctors definition of brain dead is often far from it I believe. The brain is far more complex that science knows, and I truly believe many more could begin recovery with time, rather than the urgency to switch off life support.

Well that’s a worry for organ donors isn’t it? They could have removed everything and had him buried. A few more checks might be required.

I am aghast at this story. In the UK two very senior doctors each perform an independent Brain Stem Death test on a patient, using a strict criteria as determined in law, which has to be adhered in every part of the testing. There are multiple parts to the test. How can this young man have been declared BSD? I am assuming that a thorough investigation will be made into how this happened, classed as a ‘never event’ My best wishes to this young man and his family.

When God decides to bless you anything can happen. I won’t call it a miracle. It’s God’s blessing to him and his family. May he continue to make a full recovery and does amazing things with his new life.

Makes you wonder how many others the NHS have called time on prematurely. It has been known for a long time that sometimes those in a coma can hear everything. Talk to them and don’t give up.

GW: My own father described just such an event in a hospital. Could hear & see everything but could not move. He was terrified they were going to kill him. We thought at the time it was his brain working overtime.
