However 6 years earlier someone said this about Europe, and the problems it faced…

He didn’t want the UK as part of it.
GW: Reminds one of that Hannay story ”The 39 Steps.” On that occasion though, the UK entered WWI with its military secrets in tact. It didn’t hand its military to the EU on a plate as the ToriCons have done.
