The liquidators should start by demanding that the Directors repay their multimillion £ bonuses only paid in the summer plus the donations to the tory party that got Carillion all these contracts.

Great the private sector isn’t it? So much better than the public sector and there are so many safeguards built in..what can possibly go wrong?

Andrea, The number of private companies going bust due principally to running up pension deficits is very telling.

The number of times I see people criticising Wigan Council with the quib – if a private company ran their affairs like wigan council they would be our of business.

I often respond pointing out the Wigan Council – and I believe all Gtr Man councils – have a fully funded pension scheme.

If Carillion ran their affairs like Wigan/Salford/Manchester etc. Council then they would still be in business today.
