Ealing: Row sparked over plans to build on London’s oldest allotments

“A row has erupted over plans to build homes on London’s oldest allotments.

Green-fingered users of Northfields Allotments, in Ealing, were left distraught after hearing that up to 10 per cent of around 140 plots were threatened with development.

Pathways, the charity which owns the site, has revealed to plot-holders a planning application will be submitted early next year, following public consultations.”

Pathways don’t own the land. The Land was giving to the people of Ealing by a Bishop. Legally speaking it’s common land and nobody has the right to claim ownership or build on it.

London developers will not be happy until there is no ‘green’ left in London and they have concreted it over

I am in my mid 60’s i have known these allotments since being a nipper in Ealing, the allotments have on the whole always been cared for and used. Soon there will be no green spaces anywhere in London. I no longer live in Ealing or london but i support he Allotments in every way!

I live in Ealing and some of their planning decisions are very dodgy. They have passed planning and then we have found out that the companies awarded the planning had been giving perks to some of those involved in the decisions. Never have we had such a corrupt bunch operating so freely.

This, Ealing Council is planning to knock down residential garages behind my house, these garages are in use and they also form a boundary wall between my back garden and a road. They plan to build a 5 bedroom private house for sale to the highest bidder and rob people who live in the area of parking, access ect. Turns out said councilors sit on said developers board. Corrupt to the core.

So the aim is to build housing for the elderly? That’ll be the “children” from the camp in Calais then…..
