Clause 4

GR Comment: “Next up, let’s look at clause 4, how about an article on this Larry?

  • Does anyone really believe the railways in this country are more affordable or better run since privatisation? Can we afford the millions wasted upon rail tenders like the West Coast line?
  • Are energy companies providing better choices and lower prices for consumers?
  • Is our precious NHS better with large swathes in the hands of private companies with the legal duty to put profits (a cost) before patient care? Hospital ‘hotel’ services, prisons and prisoner transfers, private care homes, vital defence contracts, big chunks of local government now called something or other ‘PLC’ with ‘CEO’s instead of plain old ‘managers,
  • the list of unnecessary failures since the Thatcher years is endless. Then there is the nonsense of utility companies from one area ‘supplying’ customers the other side of the country, adding no value, providing only a tier of profit taking and administration and sending the profits overseas to their parent companies.

And if the above writing on the wall still is big enough,

  • Take a look at how well market forces are working for our dairy farmers. An unconstrained free market can only result in the decimation of UK farmers and British milk will be a think of the past.

Clause 4, or a new Jeremy Corbyn version of it might be the only way to retain control of vital resources such as food, energy, transport and defence.”
