The 999 March For The NHS Reached St Albans At 5:30 Yesterday And Was Met By Ken Loach

GovWatch: Mr Loach gave a very inspiring speech to a crowd gathered in front of the Alban Arena. He reminded the listeners that responsibility for the decimation of the NHS did not lie just with the ConDem Cabal. He pointed out that it was Labour that had instigated PFI which was now strangling the NHS and that Andy Burnham has not made any noise about getting rid of it. His point was that the LibLabCon scenario was perhaps not appropriate this time around.

The leader of the St Albans PAAA also welcomed the marchers and invited them to a social in their honour at Fleetville Community Centre. Members of the Hatfield KONP Group travelled to attend as did some activists from Watford. After the welcoming process, the crowd adjourned to Fleetville Community Centre for well-earned refreshments and some live music kindly provided by the group ‘Folk From Hell’.

Today the marchers were joined by local walkers and the group set off at 9:00 heading for Edmonton. The final leg of the journey will be completed on Saturday 6 September 2014.

The protest is being led by a group of mothers from Darlington County Durham.
