“The FTSE 100 is flat this year and the FTSE 250 is down about 2 percent. Given the risks of investing these are poor returns. In comparison the S&P 500 in the Us has recently hit new highs and is up almost 7 percent this year.
Even many of the Euro area equity markets have posted on average higher returns than UK stocks despite ‘economic growth’.

b) Fears about a rise in interest rates
