Broomfield Hospital’s A&E will not be downgraded

”Campaigners in Chelmsford are claiming victory after NHS bosses have announced they are scrapping plans to downgrade Broomfield A&E.

Concerns had been growing that patients’ lives could be put at risk under plans to send all critical cases to Basildon A&E, while at the same time downgrading Southend and Broomfield A&Es to take less serious cases.”

”However, clinicians have now announced that having “listened carefully” to the views of local people, patients and stakeholders, health bosses have decided to develop a revised model that would enable all three current A&E departments to continue to treat people who need emergency hospital care, including continuing to receive ‘blue light’ emergency patients with serious conditions.”

The campaign was spearheaded by Andy Abbott with a 38 Degrees Petition which acquired more than 30,000 signatures.
