”Over the past few months Toninelli’s party has been particularly critical of the EU and other member states due to the detachment they have shown from Italy’s problems, such as Austria’s threat to close the border should more illegal migrants try to enter the country.
The Southern European country has been welcoming nearly 85,000 migrants since January 2017 as part of Operation Triton, an Italian-controlled security operation conducted by the EU agency FRONTEX.
Toninelli blasted French PM Emmanuel Macron for having “not giving a damn about Italy” despite his statements of solidarity towards the country.
He blamed EU law such as the Dublin III Regulation for the chaotic situation Italy has been forced to face, as it puts full managing and bureaucratic responsibility for migrants on the arriving seaports’ countries.”

Cold War Vet
What a bunch of sphincters they threaten us daily demand billions that isn’t theirs now demanding that we allow them to take our fish. What next? Let’s do the right thing we have the upper hand ignore the dummies being thrown out of the pram treat them like the children they are and wait for an apology and when they wish to talk sensibly explain to them what they can expect.
Major Cox Tiff
No chance, the EU have been helping themselves to £7 billion of our fish every year and selling them back to us. Remember all the chippies havinng to put their prices up?
From now on we employ a lot more people, have cheaper fish and add that £7 billion to the £11 billion membership fee and the £50 billion we spend in courts and benefits complying with their asylum and immigration policy. Finally we add on the external tariffs we won’t be paying which will make goods from outside the EU cheaper and the VAT that we collect and send to them and that makes us much better off.
We do 56% of our trade now on WTO rules and it will be no problem if we have this with the EU too, in fact it will cost them much more, so it is in their interest to give us a FTA. As for France, we have paid hundreds of millions to develop Calais and they won’t even police it properly. They treat us with utter contempt. Deny them access to our waters full stop and see how they get on when they cant leech off us.
GW: Italy should leave the EUSSR as well.
