Religiots! Christianity obviously had very little to do with easter eggs (or chocolate rabbits!) as the ceremony of painting eggs in the blood of a child sacrifice came from a couple of pagan sects centuries before.
“The Church of England sparked the row, with Archbishop of York Dr John Sentamu accusing Cadbury of “spitting on the grave” of its religious founder, Quaker John Cadbury, by removing references to Christianity’s most sacred festival from the spring event.” Of course, Archbishop of York Dr John Sentamu remained silent when Cadbury actually spat on the grave of its founder by deciding to no longer use fairtrade chocolate.
GW: Time to boycott Cadbury’s which is no longer a UK company anyway. Hotel Chocolate makes better chocolates and they are UK based.
