Graduate Trained Teacher penalised because she went to an Interview rather than to the JobCentre
‘An unemployed graduate claims she was stripped of her unemployment benefits because she attended a job interview.
Ceri Padley had been receiving Jobseekers’ Allowance since returning from 18 months travelling around the world.
As part of the process, the 26-year-old was required to attend her local Job Centre to receive advice on how to find work and to qualify for the £71.70-a-week payment.
And when the qualified teacher heard she had a second-stage interview for a job at a school which clashed with one of the twice monthly appointment, she assumed she could count of the full support of Job Centre staff.‘ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2347281/Unemployed-graduate-benefits-stopped-missing-job-centre-appointment-INTERVIEW.html
More than 1 Mill people in 16 to 24 bracket unemployed.
‘Across the UK, more than one million people aged 16 to 24 are unemployed. Frustration is widespread, and localized reports of competition for jobs being as high as 50 applications per position are common. Many of the unemployed are university-educated and desperate to work.‘ http://www.theverge.com/2013/7/25/4555864/a-dangerous-figure-the-bite-back-movement-alexander-augustus
