‘The anaesthetist who was being investigated by police for alleged possession of indecent images of children has died.
Dr Kevin Johnston was taken to Southport and Formby District General Hospital in a “serious condition” on Saturday and died two days later. There were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and Merseyside Police were preparing a file to pass on to the coroner. The ECHO understands the doctor may have needed emergency treatment for an overdose of drugs. He died in hospital.
The 40-year-old, who worked at Leeds General Infirmary, had earlier been bailed by the police in West Yorkshire after he was arrested on suspicion of possession of indecent images of children on August 8.’
