In the face of legal action the Secretary of State has backed down, and agreed that he got it wrong. The decision to allow the Council to build on the allotments will be withdrawn. A new decision will have to be made and hopefully consent will be refused this time. If it is granted again then we’ll be ready to challenge it! For now, it’s round one to the plotholders!’

Maybe we as an organisation should keep building the fund in order to be able to challenge any further iniquities that may present themselves. An ‘Iniquity Fund’ rather than an ‘Equity Fund.’
30 July 2013 – And then there is STRAG or Stapleford and Trowell Rural Action Group, which has campaigned against housing on green belt plans. Pickles has suddenly decided to ‘look again’ at the matter. “It’s really good news.” said STRAG.
Broxtowe Council said – ‘The problem is the national planning policy framework, although well-intentioned, is very difficult to follow. “It’s a lawyer’s dream, because there are that many loopholes in it. We can only go on what is in front of us.”‘
